About-us

The Largest Native Newspaper In The World
The Dawn of a New Era in Native Media

Our History

When The Native Voice was founded by Frank J King III and Lise Balk King in the Winter of 2001, it introduced responsible, high-spirited and passionate journalism into the native public discourse. Now the nation¹s largest native-owned independent newspaper, The Native Voice maintains it¹s commitment to the ancient traditional form of storytelling that it embraced from it¹s first publishing.

The Native Voice is America¹s most influential must-read Native newspaper for all ages. Diverse, talented people have filled The Native Voice¹s pages throughout this past year, establishing it¹s standing as ³A Traditional IconŠProviding a positive voice for the people.²

People from all walks of life are represented in The Native Voice writers and educators, photographers and artists, political activists and established politicians, economic gurus to the humblest of entrpreneurs and everyday people. They are lured by the journalistic and creative freedom many mainstream native and non-native publications don¹t provide.

Among those who made The Native Voice possible, and it¹s evolution in Native newsprint, are the advertisers who have supported the paper in it¹s humble beginning. We look forward to providing all our relatives with great features and news stories into the future and are honored to send our advertisers¹ messages to native peoples across this country and beyond.
